When I was twenty I dreamed of becoming a film director. I met Annette
when I was submitting my portfolio to apply for the film academy. We
became friends, met up again and again for red wine and cheese, and
speculated about our futures. Then Annette moved away. For many years
we did not see each other. Today she is married to an artist, has two
daughters and writes film scripts. It is my third long summer walk, and
I am tending to my sore feet in Annette’s garden.
