Dear
Friends of Flipbook Cinema,
"Actually, the walker is not at
home in space, but in time. He is his own
master of the hours, he bathes in time as if
he were in his element. He is a man of
opportunity par excellence, time artist who
passes by, flâneur of circumstance, who
supplies himself with finds along the way,"
writes David Le Breton in his essay In Praise of
Walking.

o.N.
I have already written this
here, but would like to repeat it here due to
the unbearably escalating situation in Gaza and
Ukraine:
It saddens me deeply that
no exhibition, no work of art, no stage
performance can prevent or alleviate the
suffering of the people in Ukraine, Israel, the
Gaza Strip and other regions of war and crisis.
Wars such as those we are (still!!!) witnessing
in Ukraine and Gaza brutally put our own actions
into perspective and show what an incredible
luxury it is to be able to follow one's inner
compass and engage with the medium of flipbooks
for many years.
I wish you a wonderful
summer with enough rain. Above all, however, I
wish that people will one day lose the moral
capacity to kill one another.
Nevertheless, as always, I
look forward to seeing you again or meeting you
for the first time.
Volker Gerling
